Over the past two and a half years we have seen a lot of changes resulting from the pandemic. Foodservice in all industries has had to make a wide variety of changes with much of the focus on how meals are delivered to customers. We even saw this happen in the correctional industry with many of our customers that had a dining area for inmates pivoting to in-cell feeding. The biggest change for many of these customers was that they needed to rethink how they delivered meals to inmates. Some facilities went to using all disposable to-go containers and others changed from a compartment or cafeteria tray to insulated trays and still others invested in MyGo Containers™ which are reusable to-go containers.

Regardless of the container that was choose, all of these trays or containers needed to be transported from the kitchen to the inmate or their pod. We have several tray transport solutions that customers can use to transport meals. Here’s a quick run-down of these different correctional meal delivery solutions:

Two Shelf Carts: We carry two shelf open carts in both aluminum and stainless steel. There are three sizes of both the Aluminum Tray Delivery Carts and the Stainless Steel Tray Delivery Carts, with capacities of 40, 60 or 80 trays. Aluminum carts are lighter in weight and rust and corrosion resistant. Stainless steel carts are highly durable with all welded 14 gauge stainless steel construction.

Flat Bed Carts: The Cook’s Brand Flat Bed cart is unique from other platform carts because it has a safety lip on the edges to keep trays or other objects from sliding off. Additionally, you can stack trays as high as you like on this cart, so it is flexible in capacity.

The Iron Man Tray Hauler: This enclosed stainless steel tray delivery cart can be ordered with or without insulation as well as with or without a heater.

The Heated Tray Delivery Cart: This Cook’s Brand cart is designed to be Best In Class for Corrections. The Heated Tray Delivery Cart has a lockable transport latch, built in cord wrap and full perimeter bumpers to protect the cart and the facilities walls.

The Rhino Cart: This is a highly durable insulated polyurethane cart which works great with the Cook’s Marathon, Gorilla, Gator or Grizzly trays. The Rhino Cart is in three different sizes and in a dark grey exterior finish. The benefit to the plastic cart is that unlike stainless steel carts, if there is anything that happens to your cart it remains operatable, where a stainless cart is often unusable until it can be welded or potentially repaired.
